Oil Train Ramsden Dock Road
Early 20th century
Smart Furness Railway 0-6-0 tender loco number 27 stands next to Ramsden Dock Road at the head of a train of thirty or so rather grubby oil tank wagons, many with the Anglo-American Oil Company name. It will have collected the wagons from that company's depot but would not normally run on to this particular line so perhaps this is a specially-posed photo, the crew looking from the footplate at the camera. Two men also look from either side of the fence, a third from the roadway where the tram line runs to Ramsden Dock station. (cf 7548)
