Looking northeast at Furness Railway loco number 21 where the smartly-dressed driver in three-piece suit looks confidently at the camera from the footplate; two colleagues stand behind while an official in three-piece suit and bowler hat, raincoat folded over his arm, stands on the platform. A company plate identifying the loco is on the cab side and a brass dome and chimney sit on the boiler. Behind the loco may be seen the end of the overall roof of the 'Swiss-style' station. A chimney and the ridge of a house roof on Hibbert Road behind the tender suggest that the loco is standing 'wrong road' at the north-west end of platform one. (See 7526)
