Hotel Metropole

Early C20th

Looking north past the War Memorial and the Hotel Metropole, from a point just north of North Pier. The promenade has some pedestrians, casting shadows in bright sunshine. On the right is the Princess Theatre (or Cinema), opened in 1912 and closed in 1981. The War Memorial was a temporary structure, erected in September 1919 and demolished to make way for a permanent Cenotaph in November 1922.
