View west into the village from Riddings Lane to a terrace of houses on Piel View. Open door to a workshop with a woman standing by with a shovel in her hand. Congregational Chapel on the left. Open land with scattering of geese and chickens and a number of wooden chicken coops. Congregational Chapel and school at Gleaston built 1887; still open 1924, but closed shortly after (now private house).
