Crown Hotel and Old Man, Coniston
1910s
View along Tilberthwaite Avenue into the village. The nearest building is a shop with a Cadbury’s advert but the name is not clear. The Sun Hotel is beyond with distinctive lintels over the windows and the walls covered with the cut-back branches of some climbing plant. The Bell, the hill above the village, is dark but higher still The Old Man of Coniston is covered in snow.
