High Level Bridge & Docks System
Early 20th century
View looking Southwest showing the docks system from a high vantage point, probably St. George's Church. Buccleuch dock to the left separated from Devonshire dock by the high level bridge. Shipbuilding works and large crane on far side of docks. Extensive railway sidings and marshalling yards on town side with an assortment of railway wagons and dockside railway cranes. Cargo boat moored in Buccleuch dock. Various buildings in foreground.
