George Romney's Cottage and Museum, restored and opened by the Furness Railway on 01/07/1909 (The Furness Railway Ken Norman 1994,) which ran tours to it and the following year opened a tea room nearby. Two guides await outside. The cottage still exists above the former Hawcoat Quarry. Good view of the reservoirs on Schneider Road, and behind them, the Steel Works and St James's Church
